Paper & Quill opened in a narrow brick storefront at the foot of Beacon Hill, with three shelves of books, one glass case of pens and a kettle that never stopped.
Seventeen years later we still hand-sell every book, tune every nib before it ships and write every gift card ourselves. The shelves are taller now. The kettle is the same.
