“Do I need a standard clean or a deep clean?” It is the question we answer most on the phone, and it is a fair one. Cleaning companies use these terms all the time, but they rarely explain what they actually mean. Here is the simple version, along with a few honest tips on how to choose, what to expect from each service and how to get the most value for your money.

Every home is different, so think of this as a starting point. If you are still unsure after reading, give us a call and tell us about your space. We would much rather recommend the right clean than sell you the most expensive one.

Standard clean

A standard clean covers every visible surface, floors, kitchen and baths, and is perfect every week or two. It is the maintenance visit that keeps a home looking and feeling fresh. Our team dusts reachable surfaces, wipes down counters and appliance fronts, cleans sinks, toilets, tubs and showers, empties the trash and vacuums and mops the floors.

A standard clean is designed for homes that are already in good shape. Because the team is not tackling built-up grime, the visit moves quickly and keeps the price down. Most of our regular customers book a standard clean every week or every other week, depending on the size of the household and whether there are pets or small children.

What a standard clean usually includes

  • Dusting of furniture, shelves, picture frames and window sills within reach
  • Wiping counters, backsplashes, the stovetop and outside of appliances
  • Cleaning and sanitizing sinks, toilets, tubs, showers and mirrors
  • Making beds and tidying surfaces when requested
  • Vacuuming carpets and rugs, mopping hard floors
  • Emptying trash and replacing liners

Deep and move-out

Deep and move-out cleans go further: inside the oven, fridge and cabinets, baseboards, blinds and every corner. These visits take longer and require more equipment, because the team is cleaning places that do not get attention during regular maintenance.

A deep clean is ideal when a home has not been professionally cleaned in a while, before or after a big event, at the change of seasons or when you are starting a new regular service. A move-out clean is similar in scope but tailored for an empty home, so the team can reach inside every cabinet and closet and clean floors wall to wall without furniture in the way.

Start with a deep clean, then keep it with standard visits.

Hannah

That advice from Hannah is how most of our new customers begin. The first visit resets the home, clearing away buildup on baseboards, grime in the oven and dust on blinds. After that, standard visits are faster and more effective, because the team is maintaining a clean home rather than catching up.

Extra tasks in a deep or move-out clean

  • Inside the oven, microwave and refrigerator
  • Inside kitchen and bathroom cabinets and drawers
  • Hand-wiping baseboards, door frames and light switches
  • Dusting blinds, ceiling fans and light fixtures
  • Scrubbing grout, shower doors and tile buildup
  • Cleaning window tracks and interior window glass

How to choose the right clean

If you are trying to decide, a few simple questions usually point to the answer. When was the last time the home had a thorough clean? Are there areas, like the inside of the oven or the tops of cabinets, that you have not touched in months? Is anyone moving in or out soon?

Here is a quick guide our team uses on the phone:

  • Your home was cleaned well in the last month or two: a standard clean is likely enough
  • It has been several months, or you have never had a professional clean: start with a deep clean
  • You are moving out or moving into an empty home: choose a move-out clean
  • You are hosting a big gathering or preparing to sell: a deep clean helps the home shine
  • You have a new baby, a new pet or someone recovering from an illness: ask us about a deep clean followed by regular visits

Key takeaway: A deep clean is an investment in a fresh start, and regular standard visits protect that investment week after week.

What affects the time and price

Every quote depends on a few factors. Square footage and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms matter most. Pets, especially those that shed, can add time. So can heavy buildup, like grease on kitchen cabinets or hard water spots in showers. For move-out cleans, an empty home is usually faster to clean than one with furniture still in place.

We always give a clear price before the visit, and we will tell you if we think a less expensive option would meet your needs. If you add extras, like inside the fridge or interior windows, to a standard clean, we price those individually so you only pay for what you want.

Common questions we hear

Can I mix and match? Yes. Many customers book a standard clean and add one or two deep-clean tasks each visit, such as inside the fridge one month and baseboards the next. Over a few months, the whole home gets a deep clean without a single long, expensive visit.

How long does a deep clean take? It depends on the size and condition of the home, but a deep clean usually takes noticeably longer than a standard visit, and a large home may need a team of two or three cleaners. We will give you a time estimate along with your quote, so you can plan your day around it.

Do I need to be home? Not at all. Many customers leave a key or a door code and come back to a clean house. If it is your first visit, though, it helps to be there for the first few minutes so you can walk us through any priorities, special surfaces or areas you would like us to skip.

Is a move-out clean only for renters? No. Homeowners book move-out cleans before listing a home or handing it over to buyers, and new owners often book one before moving furniture in. Starting fresh in an empty home is much easier than cleaning around boxes later.

Getting ready for your visit

No matter which clean you choose, a little preparation helps our team focus on the work you are paying for. Pick up clothes, toys and loose papers so surfaces and floors are clear. Let us know about any fragile items, special surfaces or areas you would like us to skip. If you have pets, a quiet room or a short walk during the visit keeps everyone relaxed.

For move-out cleans, try to have everything packed and removed before we arrive. Leave the utilities on, so we have water and lights, and make sure we know how to get in. If your landlord has a checklist, send it to us ahead of time and we will use it as our guide.

The simple version

If you only remember one thing, remember this: a standard clean keeps a home fresh, a deep clean resets it, and a move-out clean gets an empty home ready for its next chapter. Most households need a mix of all three over time. Start with the clean that matches where your home is today, then let us help you keep it there. Call or book online, and our team will help you pick the right fit.
